Updates

Chris went back to the doctor yesterday after being on Synthroid (synthetic thyroid hormone) for one month.  They checked his blood levels and will let us know in a few days if the counts look good.  Most likely they will have to adjust his medication a few times before they get the perfect dose for his body but already we are seeing (and he is feeling) a difference.  He has lost 5 lbs. since taking the medicine (weight gain is a symptom of hypothyroidism)  He's also feeling like he has more energy again and not feeling so cold all the time (though the weather has helped that part too!)  We will keep you updated!

We have started repairing the basement since the ice storm damage.  At this point it's a  huge mess but we think we will end up with a much nicer finish downstairs than we had before.  Chris is having to redo some of the work that was done in order to correct one wall that was not straight (frustrating) and we are hoping to use the opportunity to replace the 1962 windows which will add to the value of our home and make it a lot cozier downstairs!  I got the home improvement bug yesterday too so I took the opportunity to paint the kids bathroom... I think it turned out really cute!  Check out the pictures!

Ready for Spring

The weather is still teasing us with brief warm spells followed by bitter winds.  I'm ready, really really ready for spring to get here but at least it's not ice!   I guess in all reality the flirting sunshine is probably as close to the definition of spring as you could ask for.

We got some great news from our insurance company... they have approved the repairs for our basement!  We got a couple different checks from them and so we will be starting the work very soon.  We still have to finish up the list of personal property and submit it with the claim.  I'm not reallly looking forward to the construction to be done downstairs but in the end I think we will be pleased.

The boys have continued to catch every virus out there and have spent the last couple days home from school.   They are on the mend now and we hope that this bug doesn't take another tour of the school.   Somehow Abby has managed to miss the sickness the last couple go-rounds so we are hoping she stays healthy!
